Cricket: Lindow's winning streak continues

Lindow's winning streak continued with another fine performance against relegation candidates Prestbury.

The Upcast Lane side lost the toss and were asked to bat on a damp track, but they ignored the bowler friendly conditions en route to scoring a superb 235.

Chris Taylor and Rocker Robinson set the tone by making a positive start before a 100 partnership from Brady Yates and captain Ben Tyler took the game away from Prestbury.

In reply, the visitors looked to make a positive start and it appeared as though they were going to spoil the promotion party as they went in at drinks just four wickets down.

However Lindow dug deep and Tyler and Yates stepped-up yet again to ensure the final wickets tumbled, leaving Prestbury all out on 120.

Lindow head to Stockport Georgians for their last game of the season knowing 20 points will ensure they are promoted as league champions.

Lindow 2s ensured that promotion to the County League remains in their own hands going into the last game of the season next week, by beating Barnton on Saturday by four wickets.

After losing the toss and finding themselves in the field, tight bowling and fielding kept the visitors batsmen under control at all times and never allowed the scoring rate to grow. The pick of the bowlers was left arm spinner Alex Bosshardt, who despite struggling from the aftereffects of Tonsillitis, came on to bowl towards the end of the innings and claim 4-3! Barnton were dismissed for 100.

It was a strange reply from Lindow, each batsman getting into double figures before giving away their wicket a little too easily. At 70-6 there were a few nerves but Rob Venables played with great maturity, and, partnered by captain Rowan Day, guided Lindow home.

Next week sees Lindow, needing a win to guarantee promotion, host a strong Stockport Georgians team. Any local support would be greatly appreciated!
