Cheshire Police is inviting members of the public to join them in an online discussion centered on the Constabulary's 'We're here' public service commitments.

In March this year Chief Constable Simon Byrne and Commissioner John Dwyer, in consultation with staff and the public, drew up a set of commitments: We're Here Where You Need Us, When You Need Us; We're Here For Justice; We're Here For Victims and We're Here For Communities.

Each commitment carries a number of specific promises that shape the way the Constabulary's officers and staff work and conduct themselves.

On Thursday, 13th August, Simon Byrne and John Dwyer will be taking part in an online conversation asking members of the public for feedback on the promises so far. This is your chance to ask questions in live time direct to the Chief Constable and Police and Crime Commissioner.

The event will be taking place between 6.30pm and 8pm tomorrow, more information on how you can get involved will be available on the Cheshire Police website.

Leaving to one side for a moment the local police who, no doubt, have to put up with slogans on a daily basis, I am reminded of the immortal words of Bob. Dylan, "because the Cops don't need you, and Man they expect the same".

John Dwyer has been nominated as the Conservative candidate in the forthcoming election for PCC. In the second round of the last election he polled 6.66% of the total number of those eligible to vote. He won!

It is not too difficult to see that the creation of this post was not popular with the electorate.
