What a difference a week makes: sun shines on Paddock Fair

Following last week's torrential rain the second Handforth Paddock Fair, organised to mark their second anniversary, took place in glorious sunshine on Saturday, 8th August.

Organiser Kerry Burgess said "The atmosphere was absolutely fab, with people traveling from Northwich, Preston, Cheadle, Wythenshawe, Wilmslow and Macclesfield to enjoy the family event."

Entertainment at the Paddock included Punch and Judy shows, pony rides, appearances from the characters from Frozen and Peppa Pig as well as owls and a free games area.

There was also a selection of stalls from local businesses, artisan producers and community organisations including the Red Cross, Dean Row Rotary Club, Friends of Stanley Hall Park and the Handforth Community War Memorial Foundation.

Kerry added "1000 people went on the trains on Meriton Road Park which in turn raised £500 for the Handforth Model Engineering society, a voluntary organisation who operate the trains on the park.

"These events are brilliant for the community and bring in additional footfall for the local businesses and to Handforth. From the organisers point of view, its events like these which puts towns on the map, The Paddock came to life with a bustling atmosphere and a fine example of bringing people into Handforth for a day out!!"
