A local artist will be cycling 350k across Tanzania in the autumn for womens breast, ovarian and cervical cancer.
Wilmslow Resident Lindsay Hill will be taking on the challenge in October with her life long friend Alison Ralph.
Lindsay told wilmslow.co.uk "She saw the challenge and asked me if I'd be up for it. It was a case if if I don't do it at this stage in my life ( wrong side of 40) I never will so we applied.
"It's a big challenge as we had to raise a minimum of £3000 each. Most of this for me was raised from an 80's disco I held at Wilmslow Rugby Club which was great fun."
Not being a cyclist Lindsay is out of her comfort zone so she has been training hard round the Cheshire countryside with a fellow mum.
Lindsay added "I consider myself very fortunate with my life and to raise the money for these amazing charities whilst challenging myself really appealed. We met the charity leaders at a meeting in London and it really spured is on.
"The trip will be amazing and tough at the same time, life changing as we experience so much over there. We will be spending a couple of nights under canvas in a local massi village, cycling by national parks and visiting local schools where the children walk miles to get there. So different from my life as an artist in Wilmslow painting top class showjumping horses."
Lindsay and Alison will be setting off in mid October so have a few hard weeks training ahead.
