At 6pm they were racing on the bypass. Tickets and fines should be relative to the value of the vehicle, ie ticket for a Fiesta £60, ticket for a Lambo £600 otherwise this won't stop.

Totally agree Nigel. There are a significant number of people who don't care if they get a ticket because they just pay the fine. Another favourite site for parking, but this time 4 x4's, is by the Natwest in Wilmslow and at the front of Waitrose despite Waitrose giving 2 hours free parking. Some people are just plain lazy and arrogant.

I'm not totally sure but I think Sweden/Finland have a penalty that is a direct percentage of your income/wealth. This means that every one gets a fine that they feel. Maybe parking should be a proportional fine and one point on your licence, it will the hurt them eventually!

What we used to do where I worked was affix a "please do not park here" notice to the windscreen in the driver view. No fine but the notice's glue was so strong it took nearly an hour to get the notice off. Can't drive the car until it's removed. Puts them off no matter how much money they've got!

Agree with all the above comments but.... Jackie Pass, I have a disabled badge and I do park in front of Waitrose - I am neither lazy not arrogant, just disabled!

Perhaps we should name and shame bad drivers by publishing photographs of their parking which includes number plates.

The sticker on the windscreen can lead to criminal damage claim, and potential contribution to an accident if the driver decides to drive anyway. Good idea but risky.

Denise - of course disabled badges parking there is appropriate. Outside the banks it is specifically for the disabled - but a surprising number of people ignore this and take up the spaces specifically designed for the disabled.

Another great area for parking is on Water Lane on the hatching in front of the traffic lights at Morrisons - and that despite the fact that there is parking in the back. The police man who dealt with some of the snazzy offenders was very popular in the area this week. Keep at it lad!
