Having recently been granted planning permission, the developers have revealed more details about their plans for "an elegant new development" of apartments on the site of former council officers.

Chapelwood is being created by PegasusLife to replace the two existing buildings located on the Remenham site off Chapel Lane.

Chapelwood will include 57 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, each with their own balcony, which will be exclusively available for people aged 60 and over.

Howard Phillips, CEO, PegasusLife, said: "Chapelwood offers the chance to live in a great location in a beautifully designed home. We wanted to create somewhere that reflects the character of Wilmslow whilst capturing the sense of history and tradition that makes it so unique. We're privileged to have the opportunity to create something special that will help people get what they want from life."

Those living at Chapelwood will be able to use a sauna, gym, hydrotherapy pool and treatment rooms designed to help promote people's health and wellbeing. A restaurant and lounge will open directly onto a central lawn, offering opportunities to enjoy a drink with neighbours or to dine with friends next to the gardens.

Clare Bacchus, customer experience director, PegasusLife, said: "Creating an experience that promotes health and wellbeing, and which helps people who choose to live here to get the most from Chapelwood's peaceful woodland setting, has been at the heart of our approach. Whether you want to catch up with neighbours over a coffee in the garden or simply spend time relaxing and enjoying the view from your own private balcony – we want to offer people a unique lifestyle based on what matters to them, right down to the very last detail."

Owners will be able to become shareholders of a not-for-profit property management company, giving them a say in how the development is managed.

"Reflects the character of Wilmslow". Not spotted any other square chimneys in Wilmslow. The design of these actually reminds me of those in pictures of concentration camps. Is this what they call "post industrial architecture?".

I don't doubt that the apartments will be gorgeous inside, but the exterior appearance is hideous and looks like an asylum. - So typical of the depressing utilitarian boxes being slung up in Wilmslow in recent years. A challenge for the borough and town councils going forward would be to encourage a softer and more appealing design style for the town which creates character. I'm guessing that the square chimneys are lift shafts?

This is just what Wilmslow needs to brighten up this important gateway site

'Chapelwood's peaceful woodland setting'!! Its positioned between Bedells Lane ( main route for emergency vehicles) and Alderley Road. Not to mention the singing from the United Reform Church and the roundabout.

Overall I think the proposed development at "Chapelwood" is very much what Wilmslow needs. It is also more appropriate than the original idea (executive homes, I believe) when the site was first put on the market. Handling of the sale by Engine of the North has worked well on this site. I do, however, agree with Jackie Pass that the "chimney" design could be improved.
