Pipe band leads the Scarecrow Parade

A colourful, noisy and traffic stopping Scarecrow Parade took place in the town centre this morning to celebrate the 2015 Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival.

Old and young lined the streets to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the sound of the Swaminarayan Gadi Pipe Band from Bolton.

They were joined on the parade by Rotary Robin and Rosie, two 4m high scarecrows made by rotarians Geoff Shelmerdine and Bernard Davies. As well as Brownies and Rainbows with the scarecrow they had made.

The parade set off from Sainsbury's and proceeded along Alderley Road and down Grove Street to Bank Square.

If you missed the Scarecrow Parade they will be making another appearance at about 2pm when they will set off from Bank Square and travel up Grove Street, to the end of Water Lane and back before proceed down Grove Street to Bank Square.

The Wilmslow Scarecrow Festival continues until Saturday 4th July, then a selection of scarecrows will be on display the following day at the Wilmslow Show.

Forms for the Scarecrow Treasure Hunt are available from Wheeldon Opticians on Hawthorn Lane next week.

What a fantastic day this has been, being part of the marshalling group, keeping Rosie and Robin out of trouble, was hard work to say the least, but the pipe band were fantastic and such good guys to talk too, as for the Brownies and the Rainbow little ladies, they were so good and patient little ladies to follow, and did themselves proud, their leaders should also be so proud of them too. Thank you to all who waited on the service road on Alderley Road for their patience as we were a little delayed setting off this morning!
