Wilmslow Show gets a makeover

Plans are well underway for the 2015 Wilmslow Show which has been given a complete makeover this year.

After 103 annual shows, organisers are keen to keep developing the event and move with times, so this year they are providing a new set of attractions with a new layout. The main arena has been moved to accommodate more children's attractions – many of which, including the donkey rides are now free.

They haven't forgotten the shows roots though, as in previous years the horticultural marquee will contain the wonderful floral displays and the many competition entries, ranging from vegetables to cacti, as well as the many children's art and craft competitions.

The Royles classic car show continues to develop and will concentrate more on the older pre 1980 classics.

Entertainment will be provided throughout the day in the main arena, including new events such as the Chesterfield Muskateers Show Band, Joseph Peace Fire Stunt Spectacular and the Gary Lee Cumberland Giant Wrestlers, along with long time favourites such as the Dog and Duck and Cuerden Birds of Prey. In addition to the ever popular fun dog show the new dog arena will host the Woodford Dog Training Club, Wilmslow Wild Dogs Flyball Team and Barkers Temptation Alley.

Another new addition, is the Dance Arena, where the Alderley and District Caledonian Society, Ellie Anderson, Amy Mayers Sylk School of Dance and Knypersley Line Dance Group will be performing throughout the day.

Non-stop music can also be enjoyed at the bandstand, with performances from Stockport Ukulele Band, Lost in the Mist, Pantonic All Stars Steel Band and Annies Jazz Band.

The Cowboys are back, gun fighting in their village, which is found next to the hot air balloon and the fun fair and, as usual, there will be a variety of food outlets, along with a fully licenced bar.

Frank McCarthy, Chairman of the Show said "After 103 shows, we are still moving with the times to provide a really new fun day out for all the family, whilst keeping the cost to a minimum. The entrance ticket has been kept at the same level for ten years so that everyone can enjoy Wilmslow's biggest annual event.

"The Show can only continue to exist with the support of our sponsors, and our partnership with our Town Council has enabled us to look to the future with confidence, whilst enabling us to provide facilities for many of the town's charitable organisations free of charge."

The 103rd Wilmslow Show will be held at Wilmslow High School from 11am until 5pm on Sunday, 5th July.

Entry prices are £5 for adults, £2.50 concessions and £12 for families.

The free car park off the A34 will be available as usual and for overflow parking organisers are providing a free shuttle service to the show from Broadway Meadow car park (near the Leisure Centre) from 11.30am until 3.30 pm.

Is anybody able to confirm whether people working on stalls have to pay the entry fee please?

Every stall at the Show receives two tickets, but can buy additional tickets at the time of booking.

Thanks Jon, postal applications only, send a sae, "no electronic applications" perhaps this process needs a make-over too? I will not be home in time to do that.
