A group of 15 Travellers that set up camp on the site of Waters corporate headquarters, off Altrincham Road, have now moved on to land off Hough Lane.

They arrived at Waters' site during the early afternoon on Thursday, 11th June, however, after discussions with the travellers and local authorities they left yesterday evening and have now set up camp at Brickhill Farm, off Hough Lane.

Councillor Rod Menlove said "They say they are here for a wedding and will be gone by Tuesday. Our CE officer is liaising with the police who have agreed with the action of serving a Section 61 notice on Monday for the site to be vacated by 6pm on Tuesday. If they do not then they can be arrested if necessary."

Rod Menlove added "It is highly frustrating that this is the third group of Travellers over a short period of days who have illegally occupied sites in the Ward. Our CE officer will monitor the group over the weekend and hopefully they will move on Tuesday."

Last week a group of travellers arrived on Broadway Meadow car park where they remained for 4 days, until they were served with a Court Order to leave the site.

Prior to that travellers set up an illegal encampment on a site to the west of the A34 Wilmslow bypass, which is owned by Wilmslow High School. About ten caravans arrived over the bank holiday weekend and left on Friday, 29th May, having been served with a Court Order.
