Fun for all at the Animal Sanctuary

The high winds had dropped and the weather was kind last weekend, as the Animal Sanctuary once again opened it's gates to the public for it's Annual Fun Day.

There were children's games, a bouncy castle, tombolas and refreshments galore, and over 450 people enjoyed a tour of the Sanctuary to see all the animals who depend on them for their care.

Melanie Hay, Trustee, said "This has been an absolutely amazing day for the Sanctuary. So many people who live in the area, who didn't even know they had an animal charity on their doorsteps, have been able to come along today and see the difference we are making to desperate animals in the community."

The Sanctuary has recently constructed a new facility for rabbits, known as The Rabbit Ranch, and the money raised at the Fun Day will go towards finishing off the project.

Melanie said, "Thanks to the generosity of so many volunteers who have helped run the Fun Day, and the number of people coming along to enjoy the day, we have been able to raise £3750. This money will enable us to pay for the electrical works and finish off the interior joinery work in the Rabbit Ranch, ready for it opening.

"I would also like to add special thanks to Denise and Peter of The Artisan Market for allowing the Sanctuary the loan of their gazebos and tables for the event."

That is an amazing sum to raise. A great family orientated event for a worthy cause.
