Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra will end another successful season with a programme of popular American favourites.

The audience will be invited to sit back, relax, and enjoy the music at the Evans Theatre on Saturday, 6th June.

Dermot Gault said "The 20th century is the age when American music came into its own. It proudly takes its place with Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, one of those instantly recognisable pieces known to all. There is plenty of colour and life in Gershwin's Cuban Overture, and in Bernstein's Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. Another iconic work, Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings, makes an effective contrast. We end with Bernstein's On the Waterfront, his only score written specifically for the movies.

"For this concert we are delighted to welcome back the popular maestro Juan Ortuño, who has worked with us so often in the past. Juan's natural flair makes him the perfect choice for this end of season event."

The concert starts at 7.45pm at the Evans Theatre in Wilmslow Leisure Centre. Tickets cost £12 (concessions £10) and can be bought at the door, through the ticket hotline on 01925 756144, or through the Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra website.
