We have received numerous complaints from local residents regarding the construction which was erected outside an Indian restaurant in the town centre last week.
Work began on Wednesday, 20th May, to build what appears to be an outdoor seating area for Swadesh Indian restaurant on Green Lane.
Readers contacted us to complain about the 'eyesore' and 'fire hazard' which does not seem to have been the subject of a planning application.
Wilmslow resident Erik Garner said "It looks like a shanty town not to mention a major fire hazard. How did they get permission to do that?
"It's the most bizarre construction I've ever seen in Wilmslow and there's been some eyesores believe me!"
He added "To think that some people can't get planning permission to improve their homes and these guys throw up a load of pallets and plastic corrugated roof on a main shopping street! What are they thinking!"
Another reader wrote "Have you noticed the abomination that they have built outside Swadesh Indian? It's made out of old pallets! Surely they can't have planning permission?"
Cllr Rod Menlove went to have a look at the construction and confirmed to wilmslow.co.uk "This is a total eyesore and despite appearing to be a temporary structure possibly enclosing work of a permanent nature, it has no business being there in the first place.
"I did visit on Saturday morning but there were no staff in Swadesh to talk to. I have contacted Planning pressing for immediate action and am now told that Enforcement are looking in to it and will get back to me."
A Cheshire East Council spokesperson said: "We received a complaint about the outdoor seating area late last Thursday.
"Our planning enforcement officers are now investigating whether or not planning permission is required and if so, whether such planning permission exists."
I contacted Swadesh about their new seating area and was informed that I will be receiving a press release this week.
An update will be published on wilmslow.co.uk as we receive more information.

Here's what readers have had to say so far. Why not add your thoughts below.
I am looking forward to trying their refreshments when it opens.
If rel planning permission has not been sought, CEC should require demolition until such application is made, not just grant 'retrospective permission'. This would send a message to all taxpayers wanting extensions to their property, (though most are compliant with planning Regs).
As a point of interest, there is a permission for decking (11/0010m) on this part of the site but a separate application needs to be made for an acceptable design.
In my opinion it is such a mess of a bodged construction of nil design that the sooner it goes the better.
It's serious I know
Somewhat like Lyme Green then?
