Teddy bear flashmob wanted for world record challenge

Teddy Bear 2

Wilmslow Dean Rotary Club needs you and your many teddy friends to attempt a new Guinness World Record for the most bears in the park on one day.

They are calling on all Paddingtons, Ruperts, Barringtons, Bungles, Winnie the Poo´s and Yogi bears to join them in The Carrs on Sunday 21st June, from 10am to 4pm, during the annual Party in the Park.

Local residents are urged to go along and join the fun, taking their own teddy bear 'Flashmob', and meet some teddy stars. You can also have a photo taken for just 50p per teddy with the chance to win some great prizes in their special Teddy Challenge Draw.

Geoff Shelmerdine, organiser and member of Rotary Wilmslow Dean said, "This is a fun and exciting venture for us and with the help of all those teddy bears out there we have our sights set on beating the Guinness Record in Wilmslow on June 21st. And just as all of the monies from our Scarecrow Festival are used for charities supported by Rotary, so will the 50p donations for the teddy bear challenge.

"So, mums, dads, and children remember, for every bear that ever there was, will gather there for certain because, that´s the day the teddy bears beat the record."

He added "Checking the Guinness Records I found the World Record for 'the most teadybears at a party in a park' is 11,927. We could do this!!!"

Please do not ever dismiss these things as trivia. This is marketing our town, its an initiative to help promote footfall and fun. Do it and it gets in the press, this is marketing the town and is what i firmly believe in, in whatever shape or form, and i'm happy i do my bit too. You cannot believe how much the Rotary guys want to help the town, and retail, and a charity hit, i do have a lot of time for these people #respect as they say.

Here, here Steve, well said and as well as showing 'outsiders' what a great town this is, these events get people together with no other agenda than 'enjoy yourselves'!
