Young entrepreneurs make regional final

A group of six formers from Wilmslow High School are through to the regional final of the national Young Enterprise competition.

The team of 16, 17 and 18 year old students have set up a company called 'What A Mug' that produces quality mugs with a unique design -enabling customers to enjoy a hot beverage specifically tailored to their requirements.

Managing Director Sophie Davis explained "You can simply write your name on the mug with the included pen before moving on to select either tea, coffee, herbal tea or hot chocolate as well as the desired quantity of milk and even how many sugars. Our product can be very versatile and is used within offices, homes, schools and a variety of other locations."

On Thursday 7th May, What a Mug attended the Cheshire and Warrington finals, having already won the Cheshire East finals held at Radbroke Hall. The team were delighted to be awarded the best trade stand as well as being invited to compete in the next round of the competition. On June 18th they will be representing Cheshire in the North West finals at Barclays Technology Centre, Radbroke.

Sophie said "Winning Best Trade Stand and overall East Cheshire winner was exciting, but then to go through to the Cheshire final and win again meaning we will be representing Cheshire was a moment I will never forget. The whole team have worked so hard and are all doing so well to balance A Levels as well as preparing for the next round. We have all found that winning is bringing us closer together as a team and all we want now is to get to London and represent the North West in the UK finals!"

At the North West finals the students will have to submit their company report, display their trade stand and give a 4 minute presentation to the judges, their competitors and guests.
