George Osborne donates original sketch for Wilmslow Art Trail

The route is set for this year's Wilmslow Art Trail 2015, which will take place from Friday 5th to Sunday 7th June across the town centre.

The 3-day art extravaganza has attracted 40 local artists who will be showcasing their work in 22 locations from shops and churches to pubs and showrooms.

The artists, who this year include painters, silversmiths, furniture makers, jewellers, ceramicists, bookbinders, digital artists and embroiderers, will be on hand to talk about their work.

New for this year, there will be a charity postcard exhibition. Each participating artist has generously donated a piece of original work in postcard form and these will be available to buy for £20 each.

Tatton MP and Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne has also donated a hand drawn signed piece for the charity postcard sale, all the proceeds from which will be going to the East Cheshire Hospice.

George Osborne said "The Wilmslow Art Trail is a fantastic way of showcasing our town whilst raising money for a good cause. East Cheshire Hospice is a vital source of help and support for local people and I was glad to be able to contribute in a small way.

"As you can see, I'm no artist! I want to pay tribute to the organisers of the event and Wilmslow's vibrant artistic community for their hard work."

Furniture maker and Wilmslow Art Trail founder, Garry Olson commented "There's lots of excitement around this year's Art Trail especially as we have so many new artists who each bring something different to the event. I think Wilmslow is in for a real treat. The artists are also delighted to be involved in the Postcard Exhibition and to support East Cheshire Hospice."

Wilmslow Art Trail organiser, Wilmslow Business Group has produced an Art Trail Map which is available to collect from many retailers and cafes in the town. The trail will allow people to plan their visit and walk or cycle the route, enjoying refreshments along the way.

There will be many additional activities taking place across the weekend including a series of Art Trail workshops, including book folding at The Library, Willow Weaving at The Methodist Church and Photography at Morley Green Social Club. Full details can be found in The Wilmslow Art Trail Programme which is available in venues all over town.

Viewing and sales of the postcards will be held over the weekend on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June at Castletons Accountants on Kennerleys Lane.
