Good luck to the Improving Handforth candidates and to Matthew and Ian Clark

Mr Barton I would advise you to check your facts and read the article properly before posting comments. Matthew Clark stood for the West Ward which was uncontested. Why have you failed to extend your good wishes to the other candidates - Brian Tolver and Beryl Chapman?

Looking forward to becoming a Handforth Parish Councillor for the West Ward, I have spoken to many residents in the ward and what great support I have out there, and what a lovely community we live in. Barton- It was nice meeting you a few weeks ago at the Cyprus House Consultation and you had very good understanding of the subject, it was a shame the chairman of the planning committee failed to turn up...Toni Fox.

Actually I had a very interesting discussion with the various representatives and the architect of the development at the consultation Kerry. I told them I was extremely impressed that as a result of listening to local residents comments during the initial consultation they had come back with a revised plan that took into account their concerns. Overall they said they had received a very positive feedback and would as a result be submitting a planning application which has since been lodged with Cheshire East Council. As Chairman of the Planning & Environment Committee I attend all planning consultations in Handforth Kerry, but not necessarily at exactly the same time as you.

Thank you - I was not sure if you were following this or not, glad to see you are. Yes you were present for the initial consultation as I spoke to you. Barton raised very interesting questions at the 2nd consultation. I am in support of the development as long the development does not effect Hunters Gate or make flooding issues worse [Flooding issues have gone worse there and Hunters Gate is on lower land]. Dennis and Barry did an excellent job with making sure there is adequate parking on the sight for the new tenants to be [They have done a lot to help my concerns]. However the parking on South Acre Drive will now become worse as we lose the Cypress house carpark [Users of Honford Hall use Cypress House carpark as there is not enough parking on the road and Honford Hall does not have a carpark], there is no parking bays outlined, no signs regarding parking outside Honford Hall. Once Cypress House is knocked down, parking will become very difficult and it will be Hunters Gate who suffers. [I am not sure if you were aware of this- Tolver is] I was requesting the 108 monies to be used to allocate parking bay lines and better signage on the road for the Hall. The Hall is used often and with upto 50 cars. I hope you take this into consideration. And if you do become elected, to work with the otherCEC councillors to achieve some sort of solution.

To reiterate Kerry, and as previously stated, I was present at both consultations at CYPRESS House. Interesting you should mention the fact that indeed there is no car parking at Honford Hall - I am wondering how Philip Barton intends to carry out his pledge to build disabled parking bays there? I think you mean S106 money in which case Handforth Parish Council as stated in its last Newsletter has acquired over £120,000 for further parking to those sites already existing and is welcoming feedback from residents for suitable sites for extra parking provision within the Handforth ward.

As a resident of Handforth for over fifty years I have seen many changes, sadly, NOT all for the best. Now there is the opportunity to change what is unsatisfactory and improve on the things, so that future generations will have an environment in which they will be safe, healthy and happy. I would therefor, look into the aspirations of the number of candidates standing as IMPROVE HANDFORTH after all isn't that what councillors are supposed to do?

I would love to know which parish council Independents or Improving Handforth people are conservative party (or other party) members - as one of them was leafleting for Anthony!

Do we need a high school for Handforth? Given that people move into the area to get their children in to Wilmslow High, I suspect that is not a good idea, though the High School is growing.

Twenty's plenty is an idea promoted by Transition Wilmslow, so pleased to see this is on an agenda, and as for access for disabled to the station, Friends of Handforth Station have been pushing this for a long time with only occasional words from the borough council or our MP. Our current borough councillors have at least been raising it with the developers for the Legion site.

So, good to see some alternative candidates, but I should feel quite disappointed if people do elect a party person, given the recent history on the green belt and Handforth's more independent history.

Thanks for the posting, ANdrew, I can say categorically that none of the candidates standing under the "Independent" banner have done any leafleting in support of Anthony Harrison in his attempt to be elected for the Handforth ward of Cheshire East. There are two other groupings standing in the parish elections, so one can only surmise it must have been one of them.

I'm baffled at the idea of a high school in Handforth. It would be nice, but even if they dumped 2500 new houses on our open spaces, there wouldn't be enough teenagers for a high school.

Brian - as to a High School in Handforth and numbers - wilmslow High is the largest school in the borough and is already over capacity. Handforth and wilmslow have large numbers of houses to be built and, it stands to reason that Wilmslow High will have to accomodate more from Wilmslow itself in future. Many of the new houses at Woodford will be closer to Wilmslow than to Bramhall High or Cheadle Hulme - yes more traffic on Adlington Rd. Kingsway at Cheadle is now also vast. You can bet that negotiations are already underway for a High School in Handforth jointly owned by Stockport and Cheshire East.
