Fulshaw Women's Institute made a large donation to the local food bank on Thursday, 19th March.

They collections approximately 20 shopping bag full of assorted types of mainly basic foods for "Food Friend" which is administered from Wilmslow Parish Church. The food bank was established four years ago to support local families who are struggling to put food on the table.

Penny Bowker of Fulshaw WI said "The donation was made as part of Fulshaw Women's Institute's support for local charities - we believe the Food Friend Project is a very worthy local cause. An appeal was made at our February meeting for suitable foods, and these were collected in March."

Flo Knowles, the Food Friend Project Manager, said "We currently help nearly 130 families in the area who are struggling to put food on the table and numbers are growing, so donations like this are invaluable for our work to continue. Please pass on our thanks to everyone who contributed to the collection."

Anyone wishing to support the food bank should contact Flo on 07592 582567.

Such a shame that our MP could not find the time to drop in on his recent visit, four years is a long time.
Well done to the food bank folks. We are all in this together.
