Young cake makers rise to the challenge

As part of the inaugural Wilmslow Food & Drink Week, Wilmslow High School held a cake-off competition today, Saturday 21st March.

The students put in a lot of hard work producing some truly impressive creations which made it difficult for the judges to decide.

Nina Martin, Food Technology Teacher at Wilmslow High School was joined by Sarah Bridge of Wilmslow Kitchen Cookery School and James Garland, Group Executive Chef at CAU Restaurants to select the winners entries.

James Wheeler in Year 7 scooped first place for his burger cupcakes, Bethan Shotton in Year 7 came second with her champagne bottle, Maisie Calder also in Year 7 was awarded third place for her Artisan chocolate cake and fourth place went to Eve Mayer in Year 8 for her pizza cake.

Nina Martin commented "We had such a difficult decision deciding our winners, all of the entries were of such a high standard. We were all so impressed!

"A huge thank you to all the students that took part and to our judges from Wilmslow Cookery School and CAU."
