Artist to walk the length of the country for local charity

Last day of the Pennine

In early May, an artist from Wilmslow will put her best foot forward by setting off on a 11-week hike from Land's End to John O'Groats.

Alex Jabore, 27, of Lacey Green, has decided to undertake this challenge in order to raise money for local charity Wilmslow Wells for Africa, which supplies clean water to struggling communities in Africa.

She commented "Women in these areas often have to walk more than a mile to reach a fresh water supply; even then many die of water borne diseases. My hope is that through my walk I will assist Wells for Africa lessen theirs."

Alex intends to cover a distance of over 1200 miles, walking large parts of the South West Coast Path and Offa's Dyke, as well as all of the Pennine Way, West Highland Way and the Great Glenn Way.

During the expedition Alex will be carrying her own equipment and camping most nights.

She added "In 2013 I completed the Pennine Way, 280 miles up the spine of England. I walked the length solo carrying my supplies and camping every night no matter the weather. I've also walked several hundred miles through the Australian Bush.

"I am experienced solo hiker and can't wait to take on the challenge of walking between the two furthest points of Britain."

We were absolutely delighted when Alex offered to support our charity (I am the current Chairman) through her truly impressive solo walk. With every good wish to her for this huge challenge.
