King Arthur and his men will be taking their place at the round table as St Bartholomew's Church is transformed into the ancient and exciting world of Camelot.

On Saturday, 14th March, Britain's most famous King will host a community fun day where children of all ages can experience the magic of the medieval world, meet the famous knights and ladies of Arthur's court and take part in a wealth of crafts and activities.

Organised with the sole aim of providing a fantastic day out for local families, Camelot Day will be separated into morning and afternoon sessions lasting from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.00pm.

Elinor Mountford explained "Visitors should allow at least an hour for their visit which will include making delicious spells in Merlin's house, watching Arthur battle Mordred in the medieval village, hair braiding with Guinevere and her ladies and of course venturing down the stone steps to the underground treasure chamber of Camelot sparkling with gold and jewels!

"And for all budding knights there will be an opportunity to try a spot of (soft!) archery in the colourful castle training ground followed by a trip to little Camelot to make jewelled goblets and mini knight friends

"Once they have completed these challenges it will be time to design a shield and be knighted by Arthur himself before taking their seat at the round table. But that's not all...

"Camelot has a local connection and old Wilmslow residents will tell you that Arthur and a hundred of his noblest knights lie sleeping under Alderley Edge. Visitors can listen to the ancient legend before following the treasure trail to find the Holy Grail. But beware... the wicked Mordred is never far away – intrepid souls may want to brave his dreaded dungeon where a fearsome dragon has been known to lurk."

Tickets (bookable in advance) cost £2 each or £7 per family and have been kept low to cover costs only as well as tickets for their Food Friends. All children under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

All activities are included in the price and the only extra cost will be for medieval cakes and drinks, served up in the banqueting hall.
