George Osborne will 'support and champion' Wilmslow Business Group

Twelve representatives of the Wilmslow Business Group met the Chancellor of the Exchequer over lunch at the Stolen Lamb on Friday, 6th February.

Mr Osborne met the members of the Business Group to understand their priorities and how he could support their work.

George said: "The Wilmslow Business Group does a great job promoting our town and I am determined to do all I can to support and champion them."

Chairman of Wilmslow Business Group, Catherine Mackenzie explained the Business Group's priorities: "Over the last nine months we have really focused on developing an events programme for Wilmslow to encourage vibrancy and footfall into Wilmslow. Wilmslow Town Council match-funded our financial commitment to setting up an Events Team."

She added "But the Business Group is not just about the events. We are now looking at how we can encourage more businesses to move into Wilmslow; as well as how we can market what's going on in Wilmslow to residents. We hope to work with Wilmslow Town Council, Cheshire East Council and Wilmslow's commercial landlords to put together and deliver a plan for Wilmslow."

Following last September's successful Art Trail, Wilmslow Business Group we will be running the Trail again this year from 5th to 7th June. They are also holding the first ever Wilmslow Food & Drink Festival from 16th to 21st March, during which a range of restaurants will showcase their food and drink through a series of events, as well as providing discounts. Then on September 12th the popular Wilmslow Motor Show will return.
