Personal trainer completes 13 half marathons in 13 days

Millies 6

A personal trainer from Wilmslow is celebrating after completing 13 half marathons in 13 days.

Jonathan Flynn, who lives in Lacey Green with his girlfriend Lisa and 2 year old daughter Natalia, set himself the challenge to help raise awareness and money for local charity Millie's trust.

The challenge coincided with the first year anniversary of Jonathan's business Wilmslow Personal Training and he chose to support Millie's trust because, with a young child himself, Jonathan thinks it is incredibly important to help raise awareness of first aid and help stop preventable tragedies.

Jonathan completed the 169 miles by running different routes each day, starting on January 13th when he set off from his personal training studio at St Ann's Parade. The routes took him through various local places, including Handforth, Bramhall, Wilmslow, Heald Green and Didsbury - with Jonathan setting off from various local businesses, who sponsored the runs, and joined by local business people, friends and family members.

Jonathan was joined on his final half marathon on Sunday, 25th January, by Millie's dad Dan and to celebrate completing the challenge a family event was held at Millie's trust head office at Stanley Green. They had a fun bus, chocolate party and a kids fun run all in place.

Speaking about the challenge, he said "The challenge itself started as a casual conversation to decide how best to celebrate the 1 year anniversary and we decided it has to be for a great cause and had to be as challenge that took me out of my comfort zone!

"The run themselves were run alongside many local businesses who were kind enough to sponsor a start point for the runs and spare a member of staff to run a portion or all of the 13 miles that day. A couple of clients and family and friends also ran with me.

"The challenge was the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever done but with effective stretching, a foam rolling roitne and lots of epsom salt baths I kept the pain at bay and powered on through. I did it to show clients anything is possible and anything can be achieved!"

So far Jonathan has raised nearly £1,200 for Millie's trust, to help him reach his target of £1,500 you can sponsor Jonathan via his Justgiving page.

Millie's Trust was created by Joanne and Dan Thompson, the parents of Millie Thompson who tragically passed away in a choking incident while at nursery in October 2012. They have since tirelessly campaigned to make first aid training compulsory for all nursery and school workers who take care of children. Millie's trust also provide low cost accessible first aid training to parents with young children and those expecting all over the country.
