YSBD Theatre Academy is the official brand new theatre school. It is the sister company of YSBD Workshops Ltd (You Should Be Dancing) and offers affordable classes in the performing arts for children ages 2-18 years. YSBD was founded by local twin sisters Amy and Hannah Goodwin in 2012 (currently starring in the National UK Tour of Some Enchanted Evening).
- Mini Stars (2-3yrs) 9am-10am. Performing Arts
- Little Stars (4-6yrs) 9am-10.30am. Performing Arts.
- Main School (7-18yrs) 11am-2pm. Encompassing Dance Singing and Drama)
- West End Masterclass (7-18yrs) 10am-11am (Including repertoire and technique from West End, UK & European tour performers).
All our classes are taught by professional performers who have worked, or are currently working, in the entertainment industry in theatre, TV and film, allowing the students to have a modern and current approach to the profession.
The Academy will take place every Sunday at Base Camp, Oak Avenue, Cheadle Hulme SK8 5DR.
The official opening of their theatre school 'YSBD Theatre Academy' is on Sunday 3rd May when the Summer term begins. There is a FREE TRIAL on Sunday April 26th when children can come and take part in classes and enjoy free workshops in dance, singing and drama!
Being professional performers, who trained for 3 years at Laine Theatre Arts in London, Amy and Hannah always wanted to bring the West End experience home with them to share with local children in the community.
Hannah, YSBD Academy Principal, is delighted to announce the Academy's Patron, West End leading lady Rachel Sargent. Her credits include: Lisa in Mamma Mia at the Prince of Wales Theatre, (West End) Shelley and understudy Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre (West End) and Rusty in Raindogs at Trafalgar Studios, London.
Working with our regular weekly teachers, Rachel will attend and take a termly class with our students giving them the opportunity to learn repertoire from the West End shows and offer advice to those budding performers. The Academy will also be visited by guest teachers from various West End and UK tour musicals.
Our aim at YSBD Theatre Academy is to encourage children's creativity, self-esteem and confidence whilst having lots of fun. It is a highly enjoyable opportunity for children to learn and expand their knowledge in this profession with handy tips to really give them that star quality.
