Trampoline park plans recommended for approval

Planning permission is expected to be granted next month for the creation of an indoor trampoline centre on the Stanley Green Industrial Estate in Handforth.

The Northern Planning Committee will discuss the application to change the use of an existing industrial warehouse on Epsom Avenue, to create an indoor trampoline park, at their meeting on Wednesday 7th January 2015.

Handforth Parish Council objected to the application stating "Councillors were concerned about the limited provision of on site car parking and that an existing problem with on street parking in this area could be made worse should the development go ahead in its present form."

Whilst the loss of the unit for employment purposes would be contrary to policy E1 of the Local Plan, this application is being recommended for approval on the grounds that the application site is likely to lie vacant for the short to medium term because there is not sufficient demand locally for industrial warehouses of this size.

The report also states that adequate car parking can be provided within the site and it is accessible by a range of transport options, therefore no significant highways issues are raised.

Unit 4 Brooke Park has now been vacant for over three years.

The report concludes "No significant adverse impacts are identified, and as a sustainable form of development, planning permission should be granted."

The proposed trampoline park is a recreational sports facility which would be open to the public for freestyle trampoline play, trampoline dodgeball and basketball, large foam cube pits and fitness classes. The open jump area will consist of a large area of safety-padded, wall-to-wall interconnecting trampolines.

The proposed use caters for individuals of all ages, as well as group events and birthday parties. Fitness Classes, incorporating aerial aerobics with calisthenics will also be provided.

The applicant runs a number of indoor trampoline parks across the US and will be opening their first operation in Glasgow very soon.

The proposed opening hours are 9am to 9pm Monday to Thursday, 10am to midnight Friday and Saturday and 10am to 9pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. During the summer time, the proposed opening times will be from 10am to 11pm Monday to Thursday.

Between 9pm and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays the applicant intends to open the venue for "Club RYZE" nights for younger people aged 15+. These evenings will give young people somewhere different to go out and be active on a Friday and Saturday evening with DJʼs, live music, laser shows etc. No alcohol will be served at any time and will not be available to people coming to the trampoline park.

The application for the change of the existing industrial warehouse to a leisure use can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for reference 14/5122M.

Hope this gets approved- looks fab and an asset to Handforth, it will be great for all ages especially for the young!!!!. Handforth Parish Council objected to this! Ridiculous!!! It even states "No significant adverse impacts are identified, and as a sustainable form of development, planning permission should be granted." The council should support it.

This will be a facility for all age groups to use, and as there are no significant adverse impacts identified, I cannot realistically see why the Council would object to a sustainable form of development, that would be of good use both socially and fitness wise to a large number of its parishioners
