Woman charged with handling stolen goods from M&S

A woman from Wilmslow is to appear in court having been charged with handling stolen goods.

Following bulk thefts of clothing from Marks and Spencer in Handforth, police executed a search warrant on Wednesday, 10th December, at a property on Colshaw Farm - in reference to a woman who was selling suspected stolen items on a social media site.

They recovered a large quantity of clothing from Marks and Spencer. The woman was arrested and admitted handling the identified stolen goods.

Inspector Fairclough said "At this time of year, many people will be tempted with a bargain from a friend or associate. The traditional 'man in the pub' may well be selling stolen or counterfeit goods.

"Cheshire police regularly arrest and prosecute people who buy such goods – I would encourage all our communities not to fall foul of such items."

Any person who has information regarding the handling of stolen or counterfeit goods can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or Wilmslow Police on 101.
