Refurbishment on the cards for town centre pub

A town centre pub which closed in September is to undergo a complete refurbishment.

The Spirit Pub Company has submitted an application for a variation to the premises licence for The Swan, on Swan Street, to enable them to change the layout and design of the premises.

A spokesperson for The Spirit Pub Company said "There is currently a planning application being processed. We hope that following this process we will be able to do a full internal and external refurbishment of the pub with the intention to re-open in early Spring with new highly regarded local licensees."

The operating times and licensable activities authorised by the existing premises licence are to remain unaltered.

Bang on Pete. However be alert for the weekend demolition and an award winning (see Waters again) block of flats with residents moaning about the noise of a town centre.

This company owns the Chef and Brewer chain. I would welcome it becoming a Chef and Brewer as their service great and food is good value.

However they also own the Flaming Grill which serves delights such as doughnut burgers and that's on the children's menu.

Reading between the lines the reference to local licensees could mean the Chef and Brewer as there is one in Alderley Edge and Handforth.

Now we have the Dirty Dancer on Grove Street as an alternative 'drinker pub' it would be okay if the the Swan became a more food focused venue and given how the De Trafford works it could also satisfy the needs of pub goers too.

Good luck. But please no Flame and Grill!
