Volunteers spruce up Alderley Road

cleanteam

Volunteers were out in Wilmslow on Friday, 28th November, tidying grass verges and cleaning underneath railings.

Eight pupils from Wilmslow High School was joined by local councillors and volunteers from Incredible Edible.

They focused on clearing the build up of detritus, moss and weeds that has gathered under the railings that feature the floral displays and tidying the edging to the grass verges on the walkways alongside Alderley Road.

Cllr Rod Menlove said "We knew that tackling these two main tasks would make an immediate impact on improving the appearance of Wilmslow. In themselves they are small things but they have a disproportionate positive effect in showing that Wilmslow is looked after.

"I am most grateful to the High School pupils and the other volunteers for this contribution to community spirit."

A great initiative - well done those WHS pupils! If only the youths who constantly drop youth-type food and drink litter in the Fulshaw Park area (even near a litter bin!) could be as responsible. I blame the parents for failing to instil a sense of social responsibility.
