Fire Chiefs are inviting anyone who wants to see if they've got what it takes to be a firefighter in Wilmslow to come along to one of two taster events at the town's fire station.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting now for on-call firefighters for the Wilmslow station.

The events will give potential applicants the opportunity to meet crews, as well as training and recruitment officers, who will explain exactly how to follow the recruitment process.

They will also be able to try out the physical tests in the brand new recruitment pod, a bespoke test unit, one of only three in the UK, housing the elements needed for the national firefighter recruitment tests.

The first event is on Saturday November 22nd, starting at 11am and finishing at 4pm.

The second is on Tuesday, 25th November, starting at 5pm and finishing at 7pm, both at Wilmslow Fire Station on Altrincham Road.

Service Delivery Manager for Cheshire East, Lee Shears, said: "We're looking for committed men and women to join our on-call crews at Wilmslow Fire Station.

"Successful applicants will be helping to help provide the best possible service to their community and will be trained to national firefighter standard.

"We're looking for people from all walks of life with a combination of practical ability, mental resilience, courage, physical fitness and the ability to remain calm and focused in emergency and difficult situations."

If you would like to go along to one of the open days call Laura Gavin on 01606 868457 or email [email protected] for full information.
