Lest we forget: Wilmslow marks Remembrance Sunday

Wilmslow has marked Remembrance Day this morning with a parade and church service to remember those who fought and sacrificed their lives while serving for their country.

Led by the Alderley District Scout Band, the parade set off from the British Legion Club at 9.30am.

Members of The Royal British Legion, local councillors, police officers, army cadets, air cadets, scouts, cubs, beavers, guides, brownies and rainbows all marched down Grove Street and Church Street to Wilmslow Parish Hall where the Remembrance Service was held.

They were joined by Mrs Kathy Cowell, Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire who attended on behalf of David Briggs, Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire.

Following the remembrance service, a two minute silence and wreath laying ceremony was held at the War Memorial on Chancel Lane, before the parade marched back to the British Legion where refreshments were served.
