On Remembrance Sunday, 9th November, The Lindow Singers will mark the 100th Anniversary of the start of World War One, with a concert at Wilmslow United Reformed Church, Alderley Road, Wilmslow SK9 1PR, starting at 7.30 p.m. The programme will include "The Armed Man - A Mass for Peace" by Karl Jenkins, which was specially commissioned by the Royal Armouries, Leeds, to celebrate the millennium. This will be followed by the beautiful Requiem Mass by Gabriel Faure.

The soloists will be from the Royal Northern College of Music and the performance will be accompanied by Richard Brocklehurst, organ, and Roderick Barrand, piano, and an instrumental ensemble. The conductor will be Russell Medley. Tickets are available on the door or from 01625 611124. Car parking is available near Sainsbury's supermarket, a 2-minute walk.

The choir will be celebrating the festive season with a concert at St. Bartholomew's Parish Church on Saturday 20th December which will include the acclaimed "Manchester Carols" by local composer Sasha Johnson Manning and the Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, together with other well loved carols. Tickets, again, will be available from 01625 611124.

Future plans in 2015 include a performance of Mozart's Requiem on Sunday 8th March 2015, jointly with Sale Choral Society at the Royal Northern College of Music, and a concert performance in June of "The Mikado" by Gilbert and Sullivan, with Sale Gilbert and Sullivan Society. Date and venue will be posted on the choir website in the new year.

The Lindow Singers are a well-established local choir, founded in 1964, and have been celebrating their 50th Anniversary in 2014. They warmly welcome new members and would be delighted to hear from anyone who is interested in singing with them.
