Motorists are being urged to plan their journey ahead as major road works to improve Junction 17 of the M6 begin next week.

Works to upgrade Junction 17 will begin on Monday, November 3rd, and continue for 4 months.

During the works the junction will be closed overnight, from 8pm to 5am Monday to Friday and 8pm to 7am on Saturdays and Sundays.

The £3.2m government funded pinch point scheme will provide a roundabout to the northbound slip road of the M6 and a traffic signal junction serving the southbound slip road.

Anyone travelling along the M6 between 8pm and 5am will be affected as the Pinch Point Scheme gets underway.

Updated: Thursday 30th October. We were intially informed the work would be "starting November 3 and continuing for at least the next 18 months" but this has subsequently changed to say "starting November 3 and continuing until March 2015".
