Lacrosse: Wilmslow make it three out of three

LACROSSE

Saturday saw Wilmslow host Mellor who, freshly relegated from the Northern Premiership have started the season strongly. With both teams turning over their first two opponents, the game was tipped to be a fierce contest of the two teams likely to be pushing for promotion, come spring next year.

Mellor took an early spell of possession and worked the Wilmslow defence well but it was to no avail. With Wilmslow turning the ball over and scoring quickly on the break it was the start of what was to be a fantastic display of team defence and superb offence.

By quarter time Wilmslow had put 7 past a Mellor and didn't look like easing the pressure. With James Perrin being allowed to feed from behind goal and Tim Witt finding acres of space inside, it was soon 14-0 at half time.

The lead allowed Wilmslow to work on some attacking plays and gave Chris Mountney and new Australian recruit Luke Keesing the opportunity to dodge and shoot. A chance they certainly weren't going to pass up.

Come full time Wilmslow had managed to put 23 passed Mellor and sent a message to the rest of the league by keeping a vital clean sheet. With Wilmslow travelling to Boardman and Eccles next week the Styal Road Club will be hoping for much of the same.

Final Score Wilmslow 23-0 Mellor
