Lacrosse: Wilmslow cruise to victory

wlc

Wilmslow Lacrosse 1st team squared off against previously promoted Cheadle Hulme on Saturday 27th September, aiming to build upon last weeks season opening victory. With the club's Lacrosse Development Officer (LDO) and Australian international Luke Keesing making his debut, Wilmslow swiftly blew their opposition away with a dominant midfield and defence performance, culminating in a rapid fire and clinical offence.

With Keesing consistently winning the face off battle and fellow Aussie Tim Witt benefitting from unselfish attack play, Wilmslow comfortably led 1-11 at half time. A slow start to the third quarter saw a short lived Cheadle Hulme fight back, but Wilmslow soon stamped their authority to close the game out 5-21; a score line well celebrated on Saturday night.

With 15 of Wilmslow's goals assisted, the points were spread amongst the team but notable high scorers were Witt (8 goals), Chris Mountney (3 goals, 4 assists), James Perrin (2 goals, 5 assist), Andrew Farrington (4 goals) and Keesing (1 goal, 3 assists).

Wilmslow now face Mellor at home on 4th October in what is soon shaping up to be a key contest for the Northern Premier 2 division.
