A number of local organisations and businesses will be making time for what matters in life and hosting a coffee morning on Friday 26th September to help raise money for Macmillan.

They will join thousands across the UK by inviting people to drop in for coffee, tea and cake and take part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

James Maguire & Co have signed up to host a Macmillan coffee morning at their offices in Blackbox from 11am.

Katie Dillon, of James Maguire & Co, commented "In Cheshire, Macmillan offer advice, support and care for thousands of people and their families who are battling cancer. They help answer questions about treatment and what people can expect, offer care and support to the person who has been diagnosed and also their families and provide financial advice about work and benefits.

"We want to do our bit to help Macmillan raise money so that they can continue their fantastic work across the country but particularly in the local area. We therefore invite you, your colleagues and friends to join us. There will be a good variety of home baked cakes and coffee/tea will be on hand throughout the morning and all proceeds raised will go the Macmillan charity so please put the date in your diary if you are able to come along."

Weightwatchers will be hosting a healthy coffee morning at St Benedict's Church, Handforth from 9am where you can enjoy a slice of cake and then work it off in a free exercise session.

The Stanneylands Hotel are supporting the charity by inviting people to join them for coffee in their Calico Bar from 10am. They will also be featuring a Great Stanneylands Bake Off - bring in your greatest cake creations to be judged by their cohort of cake experts for a chance at winning afternoon tea for two, £5 per entry to go to Macmillan and judging takes place at 11am.

Exceptional Solutions will be providing tea, coffee and sweet treats in return for donations to Macmillan in the Rex Building from 9.30 to 11am. There will also be a 'Beat It' wall where people can add the name of someone special affected by cancer.

Turner's Nursery on Knutsford Road is holding a coffee morning from 10am to 2pm and Multiyork is inviting people to join them instore from 10am to 12 noon.

There will also be a Macmillan Coffee Afternoon at Morley Green Club, Mobberley Road on Sunday 28th September from 2pm until 4.30pm where tea, coffee, cakes and scones will be available.

Macmillan's fundraising manager for Cheshire, Louisa Walmsley said: "The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is a really fun event that is really easy to take part in, especially as you can tailor it to suit yourself.

"We want to make sure no one has to face cancer alone but we can't do it without the amazing people who fundraise for us.

"Every pound raised by those taking part in events like World's Biggest Coffee Morning helps us be there for someone with cancer when they need us most so ask your friends, family or work mates to come for coffee and raise some money to support Macmillan."

In 2013, 154,000 people signed up for the charity's biggest fundraiser, raising a record £20 million.

All the money raised will be used to help fund the charity's vital services from specialist nurses and doctors, to grants and advice for people who have money problems because of their illness. Macclesfield Hospital is home to one of Macmillan's resource centres which supports people going through treatment, and is only up the road from Wilmslow.
