The Wilmslow branch of Yorkshire Building Society welcomed the town's residents, shoppers and a special guest to mark a milestone anniversary.

George Osborne, MP for Tatton and Chancellor of the Exchequer, joined colleagues and guests at the Grove Street branch to celebrate the Society's 150th year.

Gary Ward, manager of the Wilmslow branch, said: "The Society is so proud to be celebrating 150 years and we were delighted to play a part in marking the occasion here in Wilmslow.

"There really was a party atmosphere and it was great to welcome George Osborne, as well as customers old and new."

George Osborne MP said: "It was great to meet the staff at the Wilmslow branch to help them celebrate this important milestone. I also had the opportunity to chat to customers about their experience of the local housing market and the improving economy. I have no doubt that the Building Society will continue to go from strength to strength in our area."

To mark the occasion, colleagues at the branch offered afternoon tea with refreshments and a birthday cake, and gave away white roses to guests.
