A Friends of Wilmslow Health Centre group has recently formed to raise money for projects that will improve the delivery of health and medical services to patients of Wilmslow Health Centre.

Barry Caidan, Chair of Friends of Wilmslow Health Centre, explained "This will not replace NHS funding to Group Practices for core services but is designed to empower patients to be more in control of their own health by providing those extras that cannot be met from the core funding. In the pipeline are plans to raise money for a new, state-of-the-art ultrasound scanner that will, eventually, replace an existing older model. This will offer more, in depth diagnostic tools allowing for better targeted treatment of a much wider range of medical conditions.

"We also plan to provide funds for discussion forums and seminars on such topics as healthy living and ways to prevent the occurrence of disease and illness."

The Friends group, which sprung from the Patients Participation Group of Wilmslow Health Centre, is holding an open evening at Wilmslow Health Centre on Thursday 25th September from 7pm to 9pm where patients will be able to see the latest ultrasound scanner in operation.
