Thousands flock to beer festival

From 12:30am to 11pm on both Friday and Saturday there was a constant queue outside of Styal Football Club, and with around 3,000 attendees over the course of two days, the 6th annual Styal Beer Festival was a huge success. The event lasting all day provided a host of activities, with games for the children, face painting and live music.

The festival brought flows of people together; all there to listen to some live music, to have a good time and to taste the vast selection of beer and with over 60 types to choose, from ginger beer to Dunham Milk Stout, beer was in abundance!

The weather initially posed a problem for the musicians, but as stated by Kim Cockitt who was one of organisers of the event, "the weather was a challenge but as the day progressed it didn't throw us any more surprises; we were able to overcome this obstacle and the bands were able to perform."

Bands such as Now and Then and It Ain't What You Do performed at the event and provided some great music which was enjoyed by everyone.

The money raised from this event will be going towards the upkeep of the clubhouse at Styal Football Club, where the festival was hosted, and to East Cheshire Hospice, St Annes Hospice and Cancer Research UK.

Kim Cockitt stated "Considering the downpour we had this morning people are still queuing for entry and people are still buying drinks, and I think that speaks for itself. We really appreciate the support from the local community and friends."

The event created a really positive sense of community with thousands of people getting together, all there to enjoy themselves.
