Town Council agrees £10,000 grant for Wilmslow Community Show

Wilmslow Community Show 2024

Wilmslow Town Council will sponsor this year's Wilmslow Community Show, with a Community Grant of £10,000.

The 110th Wilmslow Community Show will take place on Sunday 7th July 2024 from 11am – 4pm at Wilmslow Carnival Field. Organised by volunteers, the show is one of the largest community events in Wilmslow and aims to offer entertainment and interest for visitors of all ages.

The grant from Wilmslow Town Council will fund free donkey rides, some children's activities and free stalls for community groups / charities so that they can showcase or raise money for their group.

The funding will also be used towards covering security costs and traffic management for the event.

This year's show will include a funfair, a variety of animals to view and a 4-legged Arena including a dog show. Organisers are also welcoming the return of the car show, cookery marquee and 'Art Under Canvas' marquee. This year, a 'Victorian Wonders' Show has been added, with several performances through the day and a workshop to join in. There will also be a range of artisan food options, in addition to a dedicated picnic area for those who want to bring their own food.

Town Mayor, Jon Newell, said of the grant, "Wilmslow Town Council is delighted to sponsor the Wilmslow Community Show once again.

"The Show is an annual event enjoyed by all generations of the local community. We are pleased to support its continued success by enabling some free, fun activities, as well as helping Wilmslow community groups and charities raise money or promote their cause to many people."

Well there has been a lot of talk about the council spending money wisely so I hope that this years show is more affordable for the community and delivers something better than last year.
The show should be a celebration of Wilmslow so all the best to the great volunteers that try to make it so - I hope you succeed.
